Tonya's Tips

1. SELF PROMOTE: Don't depend on an agent alone to get you a job, I constantly promote myself and it pays off.

2. ALWAYS LOOK LIKE A MODEL: You never know who may see you out and about. Walk the walk and talk the talk!

3. KEEP YOUR PORTFOLIO WITH YOU ALWAYS: You should live with that thing, seriously! Never leave the house without it no matter where you are going.

4. INVEST IN THE TOOLS OF THE TRADE: If you don't have some good photography get some! Find a good photographer and offer to work for free or pay him to get the shots you need. That is the most important thing that you can do for yourself. You should have in your portfolio at least 12 or more good quality prints and no more than 24. Keep them rotated with fresh images, reflecting your ability and your current look and style.

5. GET AN E-MAIL ADDRESS: You must get an email address and learn how to send and receive emails. Be come familiar with basic computer operation. You will need it.

6. LEARN TO POST ON FORMS FOR JOBS: There are many model forums online that you can post messages and photos to be offered jobs. Get your photos uploaded to a website somewhere and learn how to post.

7. PROMOTE YOUR SELF EVERY WHERE YOU GO: I personally leave business cards everywhere I go and have received many jobs for that simple thing. Keep them with you always.

Put together the following in a soft side travel briefcase:

Portfolio-Business cards-Resume-Comp cards-Headshots

Keep these items in you car or with you where ever you travel and be prepared to leave samples of resume and cards at all times.
